How Your Looks May Affect Your Paycheck
In a new article featured on Yahoo news, it talks about how your looks affect your paycheck as well as overall expectations and hiring factor. According to the article, taller men make more money than shorter men- on average, and thinner women make more money than that of their heavier counterparts. The article also highlights the following;
“Normally, being pretty is a good thing. It’s been proven time and time again that attractive people make more money. Cute babies are held and played with more than others, teachers have higher expectations in the classroom for good-looking children, and hiring decisions are made largely (but often subconsciously) on looks.”
With all this said, the US News and World Report states how plastic surgery can now help boost your careers. In fact, The American Academy of Facial Plastic and Reconstructive Surgery also reported that “two-thirds of its members, both men, and women, wanted cosmetic surgery because they wanted to remain competitive in the workplace.”
This information is sad but true. We as a society, although it is done subconsciously, base many judgments and assumptions on looks and appearances. We trust those with good looks more so than others, we hire the more attractive of potential employees etc. It is, in fact, a fascinating science of the laws of attraction, no?
With all this in mind, what do you think of people looking to plastic surgery for an edge in the workplace?
